The One

It is a crisp, fine morning. People are out cycling, savouring the excellent countryside air. In northern Kashmir, no one thinks about certain all-consuming monsters waking from the underworld.

And yet, here we have the situation.

I and my friends were the first people to discover it. Our parents were working on excavating the Indus Valley civilization, so we were bored and just playing in the fields nearby. One of my friends accidentally tripped on a stone, working a secret mechanism. A hidden trapdoor started to grind open, revealing the mysterious chambers inside. We ventured into the place where the writing on the wall was perfectly illuminated by the afternoon sun. Luckily, we were able to decipher it.

As we decoded the language, word for word, we started to understand the meaning of it all.

The One is a beast that sleeps in the underworld, peacefully and restfully, until any creature happens to overdevelop and dominate the world. These beings are there on every planet to prevent these types of things from happening. So, it really shouldn’t be called ‘the One’ because they are present on every planet, but we digress. This sheds light on certain mysteries of Earth's history, such as the Indus Valley civilization's disappearance and various mass extinction events.

It appears to have been a diary of events that were kept as the Indus Valley civilisation was being ended. It also says that the being can harness any type of power that nature has to offer … and all those volcanic eruptions are just its breathing. “Nice,” I thought to myself, “What a truly wonderful situation we are in!”

Then, we decided upon something together...we should tell our parents.
